How to Clean and Care for Your Sunglasses

Good sunglasses last for years if you treat them right. Here's how to keep your lenses scratch-free and your frames looking new.

How to clean your lenses (the right way)

  1. Rinse under lukewarm water to wash away dust and grit — the main cause of scratches.
  2. Add a tiny drop of mild dish soap and rub gently with your fingertips.
  3. Rinse again and dry with a clean microfibre cloth, like the one in your Lavunett case.

What to avoid

  • Your shirt or a tissue. Dry fabric drags grit across the lens and scratches the coating.
  • Glass cleaners and household sprays. The chemicals can strip anti-reflective and UV coatings.
  • Breathing on the lens then wiping — it smears residue and does nothing for grit.

Storing your frames

Always use a case when they're not on your face. Set them down lenses-up, never lenses-down on a surface. Keep them out of hot cars — heat can warp acetate and loosen lenses.

Keeping the fit right

Frames loosen over time. A gentle warm-water soak softens acetate enough for small adjustments, but for metal frames or anything you're unsure about, let an optician tweak them. Our frames are covered by our warranty, so reach out if something isn't right.
